Water was too polluted to drink during Tudor Medieval times so the English drank Ale

The Ale was brewed by the women in two strengths,one for adults and a weaker one for children

This model comprises a hogs head barrel on a worn wooden floor stand. The barrel is fitted with an authentic wooden spout and the flow is controlled by a tapered wooden peg.


A Drip bucket hangs from a rope to catch the overflow.
