The tudor medieval truckle bed is a small bed which lies beneath the master bed during the day and is pulled out at night for either a child or a guest.
“ sleep tight”
was a reminder to tighten the
ropes before sleeping.
This was done by twisting a short piece of wood in the rope & then hammering in a peg to secure it.
This design is based upon a typical trundle bed of the tudor period.
