During medieval & Tudor times livestock was one of the families most precious possessions.
To protect their livestock from theft they would be kept indoors sharing the family home.
Poultry was particularly valuable because of its dual function of providing eggs & meat at little cost, living on the family scraps & foraging.
The Tudors would keep the poultry in a livestock cage in the home collecting eggs & using the top for slaughtering
Reproduced in miniature and of simple historic designs, we strive to replicate the wear and tear, twisting, cracking and joint movement such furniture would have received, gently maturing as it passed from generation to generation.
Made from selected timbers our products are jointed with timber pegs and are
finished with a natural burnish.
We use no modern polishes or waxes although all of our products can be waxed using natural products (for example a good quality furniture bees wax) if required.
This product is a miniature replica of the simple type of furniture to be found in homes of the medieval/tudor periods in England and Europe
